We often get asked questions, these are some of the most common ones. But if you don’t find an answer here, please feel free to contact us.
Where are you based?
We are based in Auckland on the North Shore
How much do you charge?
If you let us know your budget from the outset it helps us determine what we can offer you. Cakes are priced according to flavour, size, complexity and decoration. As no two cakes are identical please contact us for specific prices.
How do I transport my cake?
It is preferable for the cake to be transported in an open box that is of a similar size to the cake board. We find that putting the cake in the foot-well of the passenger’s side or in the boot space works best. If you have someone else to ‘mind’ the cake while you drive it provides peace of mind!
Do you deliver and set up cakes?
Depending on the cake and the venue location this can be arranged.
Are your cakes gluten free?
No, we do not have the facilities at this time for gluten free cakes unfortunately.
How much notice do you need?
As much as possible! At least two weeks’ notice is preferable; however we may be able to accommodate your request at shorter notice. Contact us to discuss.
Are your figurines and other details handmade?
Yes, we make all of our flowers, figures and little details by hand. Figures, flowers and other aspects of the cake may contain cake dowels, polystyrene and/or wire. We will advise if this is the case.
How do I store my cake?
Usually your cake will be fine left in a cool place out of the sun. Icing colours can fade if the cake is left in direct sunlight. Do not put your cake in the fridge as the icing may ‘sweat’ or discolour when brought back to room temperature. If the weather in your area is extremely humid (like it is in Auckland!) we find using a heat pump set to a ‘dry’ mode (and cool temp) works well.
Can I keep the figurines?
Yes, just keep them out of direct sunlight. My mum has had a figurine in the back of her fridge for two years!
How many people will my cake feed?
Our cakes range in size depending on how many people you want to serve. Serving numbers are calculated on the slice size being approximately 1.5 inches by 1 inch. Often a quick ‘Google’ search is all that is needed to find out what size cake you require. Contact us to discuss specific sizes.
